Amani Sodiq-Odunaiya
Portrait captured by Justin Clemons.
At the heart of Amani Sodiq’s work is intimacy. The Nigerian-American photographer is self-taught and got her start when she was a teenager, using her photography as a means of self-expression to cope with the challenges of moving to a new country and finding her place in a new environment. Due to her experiences with mental health, she creates images that are driven by emotions, whether that ranges from happiness to wonder to melancholy. She favors warm tones and soft, broad lighting in her work.
She attended the University of North Texas, where she studied Film and English. She loves books, films, TV shows, and traveling. She's truly passionate about immersing herself in the beauty of human connections and delving into the profound depths of human emotions through her lens.
